General Care Tips

  • Avoid harsh chemicals. Never use abrasive cleaners, chlorine, or strong solvents. Always test cleaners on a hidden section first.
  • Clean regularly. Whether it’s dust, salt, or moisture, keeping your products clean helps prevent damage and deterioration.
  • Dry before storing. Never roll up blinds or awnings while wet, as this can lead to mould or permanent marks.
  • Be mindful of location. Homes near the coast or industrial areas may require more frequent maintenance.

Product-Specific Maintenance

Security Products (Clearshield, Diamond Grille, Flyscreens)

  • Clean powder-coated surfaces per aluminium cleaning guidelines.
  • Rinse mesh screens gently; avoid pressure washers.
  • Lubricate locks annually using graphite powder or Inox MX3 applied to the key (not the lock barrel).
  • Avoid silicon sprays or oil-based lubricants.

Indoor Blinds

  • Vacuum or dust gently to remove loose particles.
  • Wipe bottom rails and battens with a damp cloth if needed.
  • For fabric marks, use a mild detergent in warm water and test on an inconspicuous area first.
  • Do not expose timber venetians to moisture—dry immediately if damp.
  • Avoid leaving blinds down with windows open during bad weather.

Please note that further fabric care information can be found on the fabric supplier’s website.

Curtains

  • Dust or gently vacuum with a brush attachment.
  • For sheer fabrics, shake before vacuuming the surrounding floor.
  • Avoid regular washing; only launder or dry clean when necessary, following sewn-in care labels.
  • Keep windows clean to avoid grime transfer and rotate curtains periodically to reduce sun fading.

Please note that further fabric care information can be found on the fabric supplier’s website.

Outdoor Blinds & Awnings

Fabric:
  • Brush off dust with a soft brush.
  • Hose down occasionally and let dry fully before retracting.
  • Use a gentle cleaner, such as mild soapy water (no bleaches or solvents).
  • Avoid cleaning during humid weather, which can encourage mould.

Please note that further fabric care information can be found on the fabric supplier’s website.

Hardware Care:
  • See Aluminium Cleaning Requirements.
  • Use silicone spray once a year on moving parts, avoiding motors and fabric.
Best Practice:
  • Retract blinds during storms or winds.
  • Products are sun protection tools not storm shields or water barriers.

Shutters

Interior PVC & Timber Shutters:
  • Dust with a damp microfibre cloth.
  • For deeper cleaning, use mild soapy water and a soft cloth.
  • Never use strong cleaners, solvents, or abrasives.
  • Do not leave hinged panels open for long periods.
Aluminium & Exterior Shutters:
  • Hose down and wash with warm water and detergent.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
  • See Aluminium Cleaning Requirements.
Caution:
  • Never use silicon sprays, chlorine, or abrasive cleaners as they can damage finishes.
  • Ensure blades are closed before sliding or folding panels to prevent damage.
